3. THE SAFW SCOUTING MENSWEAR COMPETITION
This year the South African Fashion Week is in its 19th year and throughout this period we have shown menswear designers/brands as part of the SAFW Collections each season. These Collections were mostly bespoke and the designers made everything to order. For the past 5 years SAFW has focussed on developing the Menswear Collections. Although the designers can still only supply small quantities, designers have developed to be ready to sell quality garments to selected menswear outfitters, deliver on time and at the right price points. SA Fashion Week has created the SAFW Scouting Menswear Competition as a platform to grow menswear designers in South Arica.
The SAFW Scouting Menswear Competition is open to:
– Designers who are working towards establishing themselves/their brands in the South African Fashion Industry
– Young/emerging designers who are in search of a platform to launch their labels in the SA Fashion Industry
– Designers who have been in business for not more than 10 years
– Designers with a fashion design degree or diploma OR 5 years designing experience
