Thebe Magugu

THEBE MAGUGU is a South African fashion brand, primarily operating within the field of women’s ready to wear, while having a firm footing in accessories and small multidisciplinary projects.
Magugu, born and raised in Kimberley, is inspired by the women who played important roles in his life. He studied Fashion & Apparel Design at LISOF Fashion School in Johannesburg and has always explored the disparity between masculinity & femininity, tradition & experiment, overlarge & abridged and other differences in the design of his garments. Sleek, forward-looking design intersects with motifs from our continent’s storied past, providing smart, multifaceted clothes as valuable as their women.
Thebe has been chosen as the South African representative, to take part in the International Fashion Showcase. Working in partnership with the British Council, British Fashion Council, London College of Fashion and Somerset House, the IFS provides a tailored programme for 16 emerging international designers, including a business development programme lead by London College of Fashion and a creative residency within Somerset House Studios in London.
IFS will culminate with a free public exhibition during London Fashion Week in February 2019 at Somerset House, showcasing the work developed by the designers in a compelling series of installations, exploring urgent issues and new ideas that are shaping fashion globally.
