21 Steps to Retail

ABOUT the 21 STEPS TO RETAIL programme

The 21 Steps to Retail project in collaboration with Edcon was launched in 2016. Working closely with the approximately 32 tertiary institutions that offer fashion training in South Africa, the aim is to address the gap that exists between fashion training and the realities of the retail trade. It prepares graduates for retail by exposing them to the full industry value chain and equips them with in-depth practical insight and training in key areas such as trend analysis, pattern cutting, grading and fabric selection. Since its inception, the three-month 21 Steps to Retail course has upskilled and brought 41 designers into the retail industry.
