It is not only about winning the prize. Competitions play a key role in motivating students to develop their ideas and skills. It gives them a chance to gain substantial experience and the opportunity to analyze and
evaluate the outcomes and uncover personal aptitude.
With the SAFW Student Competition we call upon the students from 32 fashion
institutions it is an entry point, the first contact that designers have with
the media, consumers and buyers. Spotlighting the designers at such an early stage of their career gives SAFW the opportunity to nurture the talent we have, making sure that they stay connected.
Social conventions, regarding clothing, are decreasing. People want to be flexible, so are freeing themselves from feeling constrained by their wardrobe.

â€˘ A VIP SA Fashion Week Autumn/Winter â€™20 Collections experience in October 2019. The winner will receive a flight (if required) as well as accommodation for the duration of SAFW. They will also receive 1 ticket to each show and get a VIP tour backstage.
â€˘ The winner will be introduced to their favourite designer showing at SA Fashion Week.
The top 10 finalists and winner will:
â€˘ Have their garments exhibited in the SAFW reception area during the AW20 Collections: October 2019.
â€˘ Will be featured on the SAFW website, social media and blog.

After entries have been received and reviewed by the judging panel, the top 10 finalists and their lecturers will be notified by email.
