From architecture to textiles to fashion, Helon Melon is the story of bold reinvention. Founded in 1995, by Helen Gibbs, a designer whose roots lie in architecture and graphic design, the brand began with handcrafted textiles – an unfamiliar medium that quickly became a passion.

With no formal training in fabric design, the founder embraced the unknown, self-teaching and innovating. Early collaborations with iconic names like Selfridges and Babylonstoren affirmed her place in the industry and laid the foundation for a brand defined by quality, originality, and soul.

Selling at The Watershed at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront helped grow a global following, leading to showcases at SA Fashion Week and features in Italian Vogue. This exposure was instrumental in building the brand and establishing its presence in the fashion world. Every piece, designed and made in Cape Town using eco-conscious materials and practices, reflects the brand’s commitment to conscious creation, community upliftment, and timeless style.
