ABOUT

Co-founders:  Etienne Joubert and Wilrien Strydom for Tiger Blue Selvedge Denim

Etienne Joubert, a fashion executive, with decades of experience spanning retail, manufacturing, and global sourcing has led Eurotex Clothing South Africa since 2008, becoming Managing Director in 2019.

In response to shifting consumer needs, he launched PLAY daywear and Pheme – versatile athleisure brands – and in 2022, founded TIGER BLUE, a selvedge denim label rooted in heritage and craftsmanship. Driven by the origins of fashion – its fabrics, silhouettes, and cultural resonance Etienne thrives on building meaningful relationships across borders and empowering brands with authenticity and purpose. A highlight for the brand has been their showcase at SA Fashion Week in April 2025.

Wilrien Strydom is a seasoned fashion designer and product developer with decades of experience in design, retail, and brand building. After launching her own studio and clothing store in 1992, she went on to manage multiple premium retail outlets, refining her leadership and customer-focused approach. Since 2011, Wilrien has led product development at Eurotex Clothing, creating concept ranges and new brands with a strong emphasis on creativity and market relevance. As co-founder of TIGER BLUE, she blends technical expertise with storytelling to craft garments that resonate deeply and build lasting heritage.
