The Jacques I Know

The Jacques I know is a fearless creator with an energy that fills every room he walks into. He is bold, unapologetic, and never afraid to push boundaries - whether it’s with colour, silhouette, or the way he reimagines what South African luxury can look like.

From the very beginning of his journey, Jacques stood out. His passion for fashion has always been rooted in authenticity, in a desire to tell stories that are loud, spirited, and deeply connected to who he is. Over the years, I have watched him shape his brand, The BAM Collective, with the same courage and conviction he carries in his own character.

What inspires me most about Jacques is not only his talent, but also his heart. He creates with joy, with purpose, and with an understanding that fashion is more than garments - it’s an experience, a statement, a mirror of culture. He cares deeply about sustainability, about making things consciously, and about leaving a mark that is as responsible as it is dazzling.

From his earliest shows, Jacques seized the opportunity to market his collections on the SAFW platform, using it not just as a stage, but as a launchpad to connect with media, buyers, and audiences who could see the brilliance of his work. It has been remarkable to watch how he has used this platform to grow his brand, establish his voice, and take his place in the wider fashion world.

The Jacques I know has grown from a young designer with promise into an international voice for South African fashion - showing in Milan, Paris, and on stages where our creative spirit deserves to be seen. And yet, despite the accolades, he has remained genuine, passionate, and rooted in the same vision that brought him here.

For me, Jacques is not just a designer. He is proof of what happens when courage meets talent, when vision meets determination. He represents the power of fashion to inspire, to connect, and to ignite joy.
